4 Questions to beat procrastination

OK, you have a question that you know needs an answer but you really don’t know what the answer should be.
You don’t even know what questions to start asking to find the answer. Frustrating? You bet. Well I’m going to give you 4 questions to ask yourself in any situation. These 4 questions do wonders for opening up your inherent creativity and intuition (yes, we all have it believe it or not!). The answers may not be the ones you are looking for but it will certainly help you to think outside the box, in a different way from how you normally think and in the most creative way possible.
I used to find my mind going off in a million different directions when stuck on a problem, trying to extrapolate every possible answer under the sun which invariably led me to not making a decision whatsoever. Sound familiar?
I discovered these 4 questions through my own training and development and they are not only absolute, but downright necessary . They were developed by René Descartes (1596-1650) who was a French philosopher and a mathematician. Enjoy!
1. What will happen if I do this?
2. What won’t happen if I do this?
3. What will happen if I don’t do this?
4. What won’t happen if I don’t do this?
An example could be
Q. Should I look for another job?
Here are some possible answers from the Cartesian questions
Q) What will happen if I look for another job?
A) If I look for another job I might find one that I like which pays more.
Q) What won’t happen if I look for another job?
A) If I look for another job, I won’t stay in the current job I’m in which is making me unhappy
Q) What will happen if I don’t look for another job?
A) If I don’t look for another job I’ll be doing the same job I am doing now and will remain unfulfilled.
Q) What won’t happen if I don’t look for another job?
A) I won’t suddenly become fulfilled in my current job and be happy.
You get the gist – these are questions to get your brain to do what it does best – problem solve. You have all the answers you need, and at Firecracker Coaching, we show you how to get there when you might be a little stuck.
Give these questions a try and let me know in the comments if they’ve helped in any way. Descartes, interestingly also stated “I think therefore I am”. Definitely something worth thinking about over the weekend.
